The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach the good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and reovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed....Luke 4:18

Mission 418 is the self-defined mission of Jesus in Luke 4:18. Following Jesus is not only a personal acceptance of His forgiveness, redemption and reconciliation, but also a practical experience of folllowing in His footsteps to fulfill His mission of establishing His Kingdom through the whole gospel. Jesus' words in Luke 4:18 summarize His mission to the poor, the prisoner, the blind and the oppressed. Fulfilling this mission requires us, His people, the Church, to be His active presence in our world, not just believing the gospel, but embodying it.

CURRENT FOCUS
As we continue to process the next steps for what God may have for us in Guatemala, we are currently walking through doors He has opened in Uganda. Resulting from our leadership trip in March 2011, God has lead us to three opportunities to partner with Him in Uganda...

UCF is a wonderful church in the capital city of Kamapla lead by Pastor Micah Rwothumio. The UCF family is made up of nearly 100% college students from nearby Makerere University (known as the "Harvard of Africa"). God has given Pastor Micah and UCF the mandate to share the Gospel with these future leaders of Africa and disciple them to follow Jesus. In addition to UCF, Pastor Micah founded a Bible school for pastors in the northwestern corner of Uganda on the border with Congo. This school has trained many pastors who have sacrificed so much to follow Jesus. Pastor Micah visited us in November. We continue to process the details of the partnership.

AOET cares for, educates and adopts children orphaned by AIDS in Uganda. Each child lives with their adopted family in housing provided by AOET. After a five year commitment, the family will have saved enough money to then build their own house. This of course benefits both the orphans and familiies. This open door provides the opportunity of child sponsorship and short-term teams. Click on the link above to find out how you can make difference in Uganda through AOET.
